Senior leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that they will hold a rally at the capital’s Engineers’ Institution, Bangladesh on that day.

He told a media briefing on Thursday that the BNP has urged the Supreme Court to issue a suo moto rule on the en masse arrests and extra-judicial killings by security forces.

“The government’ sole aim behind these indiscriminate arrests is to suppress the opposition,” said Rizvi.

The BNP senior joint secretary general claimed that as many as 2,682 leaders and activists of their party has been arrested in the six days of the ongoing nationwide crackdown.

“On behalf of the BNP, I urge the top court to issue a suo moto rule asking why the government will not stop the mass arrest and extra-judicial killings,” he told the media briefing at the party headquarters.
