Now the National Council meet has been fixed for Oct 22 and 23.

Several senior party leaders told bdnews24.com that the decision to defer the council, slated for July 10 and 11, has been taken due to the Eid and monsoon.

In January this year, the party’s Working Committee had fixed Mar 28 for the triennial council, but it was deferred citing the Union Parishad (UP) elections.

Voting for over 4,000 union councils— the lowest tier of the local government—have been held in six-phases between Mar 22 and Jun 3.

The ruling party’s last council was held in December 2012.
