He has defended the government aggressively against the charge of inefficiency.

Writing on his Facebook wall on Monday, Joy said, “Our police have arrested one of the suspects in the murder of Xulhaz Mannan and Mahbub Rabbi Tonoy. We are on the hunt for the rest of the killers.”

Joy, who advises her mother on ICT affairs, went on to write, “Our Awami League Government has arrested all those involved in at least 34 out of 37 killings that have happened over the past three years. Some of them have already been convicted in court and trials are proceeding in others.”

Following the 2013 murder of blogger Ahmed Rajib Haider, several bloggers, online activists and a publisher have fallen prey to a series of murders that have plagued Bangladesh, prompting a section to harp at the inefficiency of the government.

Joy on Monday took the charges head-on, refuting allegations of inefficiency by portraying the government success with the investigations.

“Those who claim our Government has done nothing are flat out lying,” he wrote in staunch defence of the government.
