Sramik Dal gets conditional permission for rally at Suhrawardy Udyan

The Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal, the workers' front of the BNP, has been given conditional permission to hold a rally at the Suhrawardy Udyan on Sunday.

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will address the rally at 2 pm as the chief guest.

Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said at a press conference at the party's headquarters in Dhaka on Friday that police on Thursday had given permission for the rally to be held as part of May Day functions.

Md Jasim Uddin, DMP Deputy Commissioner (Ramna Zone), told bdnews24.com the permission had been given on condition that the rally will end before evening.

The police have imposed 23 other conditions.

Some of them forbid utterances and displays that might hurt religious sentiment.

Provocative leaflets and anti-state speech have also been forbidden.

The organisers must also ensure traffic movement is not hampered near the Suhrawardy Udyan.
