Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the offer at a press briefing at the party’s offices in Naya Paltan on Friday.

He condemned the killings of gay-rights activist Xulhaz Mannan and his friend Mahbub Rabbi Tonoy, hacked to death by suspected extremists earlier this week.

“The past BNP government is most successful and experienced in suppressing militant activities in Bangladesh.

“We want to make it clear that we are prepared to provide assistance in light of our experience in eradicating extremist activities.”

The BNP leader also alleged that the Awami League government was itself backing terrorist activities.

But it was during the tenure of the coalition government by BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami that terror group Jama'at ul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) organised bombings simultaneously in nearly all districts in 2005.

JMB leaders Shaykh Abdur Rahman and Siddiqur Rahman aka Bangla Bhai also began terrorising Bangladesh’s northern regions at the time allegedly with patronage from the parties.
