The apprehension led to a protest and the formation a human chain outside the Dhanmondi office of party president Sheikh Hasina on Thursday.

The protesting leaders said they feared that some Jamaat-e-Islami supporters could get nominations for the post on party ticket in exchange for cash.

Despite garnering the highest number of votes at the grassroots polls, these leaders suspect that some of their names may be dropped due to the ongoing cash-for-nomination spree.

They have sought the intervention of the higher party leaders in stopping the practice.

Top party leaders tried to dispel their misgivings and promised to look into the matter.

Party Joint General Secretary Mahbub-Ul Alam Hanif told bdnews24.com that a three-member committee, headed by the League's Health Affairs Secretary, Badiujjaman W, had been formed to probe the matter.

Strict action would be taken if anyone is found guilty, he said.
