Justice Hasan Foez Siddique issued the order on Sunday.

The Krishak Sramik Janata League president moved the chamber judge of the Appellate Division after a High Court bench rejected his petition on Feb 4.

Siddiqui's lawyer Ragib Rouf Chowdhury said, "The court stayed hearing on the plea for two weeks asking (us) to file a leave-to-appeal petition by that time."

Election Commission lawyer Muhammad Yasin Khan told bdnews24.com, "Stay on the High

Court order had been sought. But the court has not stayed the order. It has stood over the plea for two weeks."

The Commission voided Siddiqui's candidacy in the parliamentary seat, which fell vacant after his brother Abdul Latif Siddiqui resigned, on grounds that he had defaulted on repayment of loans taken from Agrani Bank.

He moved the High Court challenging the Election Commission decision but the court turned down his petition.
