Accompanied by his wife, the party’s acting secretary general left Dhaka on Thursday by a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight.

“I was supposed to go last month to see a specialist doctor, but could not manage as I was busy,” he told bdnews24.com before leaving for Singapore.

The last time Mirza Fakhrul went to Singapore was on Oct 17 last year.

Before that, he returned to Dhaka on Sep 21 after medical treatment in Singapore and the US.

The senior BNP leader was in jail for seven months in early 2015 after being arrested in violence cases until his release on bail in July.

The party claims the violence related cases against its acting secretary general are ‘politically motivated’.
