Khaleda pays tributes to Ziaur Rahman on his 80th birthday

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has paid tributes to former president and her husband Ziaur Rahman on his 80th birthday.

She, along with other party leaders and activists, placed wreaths on his grave at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Tuesday.
 
They also attended a special prayer there for the salvation of the soul of the BNP founder.
 
Later, BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told reporters, “Democracy has been banished from Bangladesh. The country is at stake. We are working to unite the nation to tide over the situation.”
 
“Right now, the biggest challenge for the BNP is to restore democracy,” he added.
 

Fakhrul said that his party was also working to restore people’s fundamental rights.
The BNP has announced a two-day programme including hoisting the party flag at its headquarters and at the chairperson’s office, and the holding of a medical camp at the party headquarters.
Moreover, the Ziaur Rahman Foundation will arrange a discussion at Dhaka Reporters Unity on Tuesday evening.
