The party’s Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan said on Saturday “such anti-BNP propaganda by the government only aims at hiding its own failure”.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Hasina said, “When she (Khaleda) was at home, she killed her countrymen and now, she is plotting new conspiracies from abroad to create instability [in Bangladesh].”

“It (the killing of foreigners) is her (Khaleda’s) new tactic,” she added.
Italian Cesare Tavella was shot dead at Dhaka’s diplomatic zone on Sept 28 while Japanese Kunio Hoshi was killed in a similar manner five days later in Rangpur.
Khaleda is currently in the UK for medical check-up. Her elder son Tarique Rahman, accused of trying to kill Hasina in 2004, has been living in London since 2008.
BNP leader Khan said, “The government is well aware, even before we are when exactly she (Khaleda) went through the eye surgery, then when she had the other one operated and even when she went to a doctor for the treatment of her leg. They are continuing with their propaganda even after knowing all these.”
“The motive is simple – to tarnish BNP’s image,” he said.
Khan was speaking at a discussion in Dhaka to mark the 25th death anniversary of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leader Nazir Uddin Zehad, who had died in police firing during a protest against military dictator HM Ershad.
“Ruling party leaders in our country make unbelievable and ridiculous accusations,” he said.
