She has alleged that her party leaders and activists are being arrested even after securing bail from the High Court.

In a statement issued Friday, she also condemned the arrest of BNP’s Assistant Rural Development Affairs Secretary Mojahar Ali Prodhan.

Joypur district unit President Prodhan was arrested again after he was recently granted bail in a case by the High Court.

Khaleda said the government was showing disrespect to the laws and judicial verdicts of the country.

“When it comes to securing bail from the High Court, the government delays the release of many political prisoners by delaying the process even after court’s orders.

“Even if someone manages to secure release by obtaining bail, the person is arrested again in a false case just outside the jail. The government’s such attitude is the best example of the violation of both human and basic rights,” she said.

The former prime minister in the statement, signed by BNP’s acting spokesperson Asaduzzaman Ripon, said the Awami League-led government was moving towards establishing a one-party rule in the country.

She said activities of the law-enforcing agencies were nothing but an insult to the rule of law.

Khaleda again asked the government to hold a general election under an ‘impartial’ administration to put an end to the ongoing political crisis.

“This will be for their wellbeing,” she added.
