Police moved the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrates Court on Monday seeking 80 days to interrogate Mahmud in eight cases.

The judge adjourned the day’s proceedings after hearing petitions in four cases.

Police will question former National Press Club chief Mahmud in three cases over violence filed with Paltan police and another with Motijheel police.

The court will later hear police’s remand plea in four other cases filed with the same police stations.

Police arrested Mahmud on Aug 18 in a case filed with Ramna police and interrogated him for three days.

In the remand pleas, police have accused Mahmud of ordering the violence.

He has been charged with various offences under Explosives Act and Special Power Act.
