“Chhatra League has been showing the way since 1948,” she said while meeting the newly elected leaders of the student body on Monday.

“You have to earn back the faith in students of the country.”

The ruling Awami League student front elected its new leadership on Sunday through voting.

Awami League President Hasina cautioned the BCL not to spare wrongdoers.

“The nation’s founding father established this organisation to protect the dignity of our mother tongue,” she said.

“Chhatra League has contributed to every achievement in Bangladesh’s history.”

Hasina, a student leader in the ‘60s, asked the BCL leadership to uphold the spirit of the Liberation War and work hard.
“We follow a principle, because it’s impossible for leadership to emerge without it,” the prime minister said.
“To become a patriot politician, you must cultivate the practice of sacrifice,” she added.
Hasina told them to build a strong organisation based on strong principles.
"It’s not important what I get but what matters is what I do for the people and the country,” the prime minister added.
