It hopes the ‘imbalances’ in the administration will be done away with.

After assuming office on Monday, Ashraf had said his party did not believe in partisanship within the administration.

“Those who are skilled will work here,” he said. “We are completely impartial and believe in giving those who are qualified the opportunity to work where they are most suited.”

BNP spokesperson Asaduzzaman Ripon welcomed the statement.

“Syed Ashraf’s attitude is definitely good,” he said at a media conference on Tuesday at the party’s Naya Paltan headquarters.

“This attitude is expected and we laud it and his comment on behalf of our party,” he added.

Ripon continued, “We want to see the minister’s comments are reflected [in action]. We’d like to see that the imbalance in the administration is changed.”

The BNP has been accusing the Awami League government of partisanship.

Ripon also had a word of advice for Ashraf.

“Our advice for Syed Ashraf is to form a committee for honest and competent officials who have been sidelined,” he said.

“[Please make sure] that the secretaries, additional secretaries, joint secretaries and other able, competent and honest officers who have been made OSDs are not subjected to political vengeance,” the BNP leader added.
