Syed Ashraf assumes charge of public administration ministry

Syed Ashraful Islam has assumed charge of the public administration ministry on the first working day after Eid holidays.

State minister of the ministry, Ismat Ara Sadique welcomed him with a bouquet of flowers when he reached the office around 2:30pm on Monday.
 
The ruling Awami League’s general secretary Syed Ashraf was removed from the ministry of local government and rural development on July 9.
 
The Cabinet Division issued a circular on July 16, the last working day before Eid, announcing the new ministerial appointment for him.
 
On Monday, the new minister held a view discussion session with the officials of the ministry.
 
Senior Secretary Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury also joined the session.
 

Syed Ashraf is the son of Syed Nazrul Islam, Bangladesh’s acting president during the 1971 Liberation War.
He is the first minister to handle the portfolio after the Ministry of Establishment was changed to the Ministry of Public Administration in 2010.
Ismat Ara Sadique, wife of former Awami League minister late AHSK Sadique, has been serving as the state minister for public administration for over a year now.
