The oldest minister scotched rumours about further reshuffle at a time when speculations are rife about such possibilities.

“Some changes have happened, but I do not think any more big change will follow,” he told journalists on Sunday after attending a programme in Sylhet.

Hasina, for the first time in one and a half years, reshuffled her Cabinet last week.

The relocation of Awami League General Secretary Syed Ashraf from local government to public administration ministry appeared to have fuelled more speculations.

Asaduzzaman Kamal Khan was promoted to a full minister after having been a minister of state for home affairs along with Yafesh Osman who was promoted to science and technology minister.

New faces included Chittagong Awami League leader Nurul Islam BSc being made the minister for expatriates welfare and overseas employment. Tarana Halim and Nuruzzaman Ahmed were made ministers of state.

“This is a continuous process, there is not much to read in it,” Muhith said.

“The prime minister did not make much change when the Cabinet was reformed at the end of the government’s first spell in power. She took some time and did this now.”
