Arrest warrant issued against 16 BNP leaders​ including Rafiqul Islam Mia

A Dhaka court has issued an arrest warrant against 16 BNP leaders, including its Standing Committee member Rafiqul Islam Mia.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Kamrul Hossain Molla on Monday gave the order over a case of sabotage filed with the Pallabi Police Station.
 
Additional Pubic Prosecutor Taposh Kumar Pal told bdnews24.com the court gave the order after the accused failed to appear on the date on which the case was to be taken into cognisance.
 
Warrants were issued against BNP Chairperson’s Special Assistant Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, Press Secretary Maruf Kamal Khan, former MP Syeda Ashifa Ashrafi Papia, Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal President Habibun Nabi Khan Sohel and former Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal President Azizul Bari Helal.
 
Bus owner Zakir Hossain filed the case as a petrol bomb had damaged his bus at Dhaka’s Pallabi, during BNP-led alliance’s nationwide blockade, on Jan 26,
 
Pallabi Police Station SI Aby Sayeed submitted the charge-sheet on Apr 30 under Special Powers Act, accusing 21 people for the crime.
 
Among the accused, BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and two others are now behind the bars, while another two are out on bail.
