A four-member bench of the Appellate Division, led by Chief Justice Surandra Kumar Sinha, gave the order on Thursday.

The case was filed with the Turag police on Dec 26, 2014. The opposition party’s standing committee member was arrested on the same day and sent to prison.

The High Court, on May 6, gave him interim bail. The state moved the chamber judge, who sent it for hearing at a regular bench. On May 24, the regular bench ordered a stay.

Goyeshwar’s counsel Nitai Rai Chowdhury urged the Appellate Division bench to vacate the order. After hearing the petition, the bench revoked its previous order.

Chowdhury told bdnews24.com: “Through this, the High Court bail is reinstated and Goyeshwar Roy has secured bail in all three cases against him. So there is no bar to his release.”
