The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Kamrul Hasan Molla rejected his bail petitions on Tuesday.

The BNP acting secretary general was arrested on Jan 6 this year amid the party led-alliance’s countrywide agitation.

Three cases were filed against Mirza Fakhrul the previous day by Paltan police over violence and obstructing police on duty.

Mirza Fakhrul’s counsel Joynal Abedin Mezbah told bdnews24.com that police sought a total of 30 days remand—10 days each for the three cases—for the BNP leader, which was turned down by the court.

According to the case details, a case was filed by police on Jan 5 against Mirza Fakhrul and 28 others for vandalising and torching a bus in Gulistan.

The second case accuses Fakhrul and 49 other BNP activists of setting fire to a policeman’s motorbike in Fakirapool on Jan 5.

Another case was filed against him and 33 others for torching a BRTC bus at Purana Paltan on Jan 6.
