Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Imdadul Haque gave the permission on Thursday.

Police had sought a 27-day remand to grill BNP Joint Secretary General Rizvi in three cases filed with Paltan and Motijheel police.

They had also sought the custody of the BNP chairperson’s Adviser Dudu for 60 days in six cases filed with Paltan police.

All the cases were filed over violence during the BNP’s protest in January.

After hearing the petitions, the magistrate rejected them and said police could quiz them at jail gate within three days.

Public Prosecutor Abdullah Abu represented the state while Zainal Abedin Misbah was the defence lawyer.

Rizvi was arrested on Jan 31 and Dudu on Jan 11.
