BNP leader Milon faces arrest warrant over demanding extortion, attempt to murder

A court in Chandpur has issued an arrest warrant for BNP leader ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon in two cases.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Arunartha Chakrabarty issued the warrant on Thursday.
 
A former state minister for education, Milon faces arrest in cases over extortion and attempt to murder in 2007 and attempt to murder in 2008, his lawyer Moinul Islam told bdnews24.com.
 
The current one happens to be the fourth against Milon, he said.
 
One Abdullah Al Mamun filed a case against Milon for having allegedly demanded extortion money at gunpoint on June 1, 2007.
 
Awalad Sarker filed the other case over an attempt to murder him at Kachua Upazila on Jan 1, 2008.
 
Chandpur Senior Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Ataur Rahman issued an arrest warrant for Milon and his wife Nazmun Nahar Baby in a case over vandalising car and snatching money from a vanity bag on Mar 12 this year.
 
Milon faced another warrant of arrest issued by Magistrate Shaila Sharmin in a case over stealing, mugging and demanding extortion money on Jan 27.
 
The BNP leader has 31 cases against him in Chandpur. He was arrested on Mar 14, 2010 and freed after one and half years in June, 2011.
