Hundreds of party activists, donning black badges, attended his funeral prayer at the party’s Naya Paltan headquarters on Monday noon.

His body was taken there in the morning.

BNP chief Khaleda went to the party headquarters to catch a last glimpse of the party’s deputy organising secretary.

She placed a floral wreath on Pintu’s coffin and covered it with party flag.

An emotional Khaleda was seen wiping her tears at the time.

Pintu, a former BNP MP and chief of the party’s student front, died at Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital.

His family claimed it was a ‘premeditated murder’ while the party blamed negligence of the jail authorities for the death.

Pintu’s body reached his Hajaribagh residence in the morning.

It was taken to BNP headquarters around noon for party activists to pay their last respect.

He will be buried at Azimpur graveyard at his father’s grave after a second funeral prayer at Hajaribagh.

Various BNP fronts paid tributes at Pintu’s coffin in front of the BNP headquarters.

The party hoisted black flag to mourn the death.

BNP Standing Committee Member Moudud Ahmed said Pintu’s death was “unexpected”.

“He was not only a rising leader but also an active organiser of the party,” he told reporters before the funeral. “His untimely demise is tragic for us.”
