The BNP leader has not been seen in public for almost three months until Apr 13, when he went to High Court to file bail petitions. But since then he has been not seen again.

His wife has hit the campaign trail from the very beginning.

“The government has attacked Khaleda Zia and our campaign as they are scared of our popularity,” she told reporters Thursday while campaigning at Dhaka’s Eskaton.

Afroza Abbas said that the Election Commission was ‘toying’ with the army.

“They are saying that the army would be used as a strike force, then again they say the troops will remain in the barracks.”

The senior BNP leader’s wife affirmed that her husband will remain in the mayor race.

“We are not scared of the government.

“No matter what happens, we will not boycott the polls,” said Afroza Abbas.
