He warned his defeat would invite dangers for the party while speaking at a gathering of ‘Sahasra Nagorik Committee’ at the Institution of Engineers on Monday.
He said: “Though the upcoming city corporation election is of local government, it carries the importance of mid-term polls.”
“This election is between the pro-liberation force and the defeated force in 1971. There is no scope to lose the polls.
“If any exception happens in this election, it will be disastrous for us,” he added.
Khokon said: “The roads of Dhaka were stained with bloods during the BNP and Jamaat frenzy several days back. Children were killed. Innocent people were killed.
“These will continue if candidates of that party (BNP) win the polls in Dhaka.”
He sought support of all to government plans to end traffic congestions.
