BNP-backed councillor contender for Dhaka North arrested in explosives case

Police have picked up Osman Khan Shahjahan, a BNP-backed Dhaka North city councillor aspirant, in connection with a two-year-old explosives case.

Adarsha Dhaka Andolan activist of Ward 34 was running for the Apr 28 polls from Mohammadpur-Rayerbazar area.

He was arrested at his Madhubazar residence on Monday morning.

Hazaribagh Police OC Mainul Islam told bdnews24.com the BNP man was wanted in an explosives case filed in 2013.

Last Sunday, police arrested Kazi Hasibur Rahman, who was the party-backed councillor contender for Ward 13 under the Dhaka South City Corporation. He was also wanted in a case for causing disturbance.

Dhaka North Ward 11’s BNP-backed councillor aspirant ALM Kawser Ahmed had been arrested on Thursday.
