The BNP is supporting Tabith Mohammed Awal in the Dhaka North City Corporation mayoral race.

Former FBCCI chief Abdul Awal Mintoo’s son Tabith is fighting with the ‘bus’ symbol.

BNP chief Khaleda campaigned at Gulshan on Saturday and at Badda on Saturday.

At the time when Awami League President Hasina was referring to the ‘irony’ at a discussion on Krishak League’s founding anniversary at Khamarbarhi on Sunday, Khaleda was at Uttara, campaigning for Tabith.

“She (Khaleda) has hit the street again. Earlier, she distributed petrol bombs and cocktails and now she is distributing leaflets seeking votes for the symbol ‘bus’,” Hasina said.
“All this was funded by the money given by Abdul Awal Mintoo. The money was used to torch buses,” she said.
Thousands of vehicles were burnt during the three-month blockade that began in early January. Over 100 people were killed in blockade-related violence.
“She who burnt people alive in this way is a despicable thing. How can she seek votes for the symbol ‘bus’ when she burnt people alive, harmed people?” the prime minister asked.
