The former Dhaka University vice-chancellor was speaking to reporters after meeting Khaleda at her office on Tuesday.
“The question of election boycott does not arise,” Emajuddin, convener of pro-BNP professionals’ organisation Citizens’ Committee, said.
“We want that the Election Commission creates such an environment so that every candidate will be allowed to communicate with their voters and the voters will be able to cast ballots for their favourite candidate,” he said.
Citizens’ Committee, led by Emajuddin, went to the EC last week and urged Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad to create an environment for fair elections after it had announced the schedule.
The committee visited the BNP chief twice afterwards.
A seven-member delegation of the committee met Khaleda with police permission around 7:45pm on Tuesday.
The delegation included professors Mahbubullah, AFM Yusuf Haider and Sukamal Barua, pro-BNP civil society activist Mahfuzullah, engineer ANH Akhter Hossain and lawyer Fahim Nasrin Munni.
They spoke to Khaleda for around two hours.
After the meeting, Emajuddin said they had a discussion on the upcoming city polls.
“We hope the Election Commission will play a proper role to hold the city polls fairly,” he said.
