Nasir’s personal assistant Raihan Yusuf told bdnews24.com on Saturday that Chittagong Unnyan Andolan candidate Manjur’s election office was inaugurated at Dewanhat on Mar 26 violating the code.

Along with Manjur, BNP leaders Abdullah Al Noman was present at the programme, he said.

“A mayor has to resign before contesting because none can contest while holding a post like that of Mayor.  But he attended the function before he had resigned,” Raihan added.

Nasir’s Nagorik Committee submitted a compliant over the matter to Returning Officer Abdul Baten on Saturday.

The committee also alleged Manjur was campaigning though there was no way one could campaign before 21 days of the polls.

The returning officer said he would speak about the matter after investigation.

Manjur resigned and collected nomination papers on Friday.
