Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Court’s Judge Kamrul Islam Molla issued the order on Wednesday.

On Dec 24, 2014 there was clash outside a special court in Bakhsibazar, where Khaleda had appeared for a hearing in a corruption case.

Awami League MP Chhabi Biswas was assaulted and injured in front of the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital during a clash between the supporters of the ruling party and the BNP.

Sub-Inspector Delawar Hossain filed a case against hundreds of BNP activists including Chowdhury for their alleged involvement in the violence.

Another 73 people were charged with attempting to murder Biswas.

Later, on Jan 9, police arrested the BNP vice chairman from his home and took him on remand for interrogation.

Chowdhury’s lawyer Sanaulla Mia appealed for his bail when he was produced in court on Wednesday.

In the plea he said Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury, 64, was physically unfit and had been a former ambassador.

“He was not even present while the clash occurred. He is being framed for political reasons,” the appeal said.

But the court rejected the petition.

Chowdhury has been BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's foreign affairs advisor.

One earlier, he had been arrested as he came out of the BNP chief’s Gulshan office after meeting the British High Commission Robert Gibson.
