20-Party guilty of carnage: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said the BNP-led coalition is carrying out ‘carnage’ by ‘killing’ people through bombing and arson.

“This is mass-killing and they are guilty,” she said at the inauguration of an international meet on burns and plastic surgery in Dhaka on Thursday.

She added that since people are not responding to the call for blockades or shutdowns , the 20-Party alliance has resorted to terrorism.

She added that they are setting buses used by the public on fire, and bombing public transport . “What kind of oppression is this? What sort of politics is this? This is not politics, its terrorism.”

The prime minister recapped the government’s successes including 6.2 percent average growth, rise in per capita income to $1,190. “A movement would be justified if  we failed to run the country. There is no sign of failure in Bangladesh.”

She pointed out the 20-Party coalition made a mistake by not taking part in the 2014 polls. “Why will the people suffer for their mistake? This is the saddest part.”

Hasina continued that the secondary school exams is being postponed continuously due to the shutdowns affecting the education of the children and destroying their future.

The Prime Minister called for creating awareness about emergency response to burns and thanked doctors for their role.

“I thank you all  on behalf of the nation for working day and night to treat burn-victims despite our limited resources.”
