This is the second time in three days a procession led by the minister has come under a bomb attack.

Paltan Police Station OC Morshed Alam said the handmade bomb had exploded on the street in front of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) around 12:15pm on Thursday.

No one was injured in the incident, he said.

The procession of the Sramik League and other Awami League affiliate organisations led by the minister was heading towards National Press Club.

“The bomb was hurled at the procession as it was crossing building No. 59 and dispersed the crowd after causing a state of panic.”
Activists, thinking the bomb had been thrown from that building, began hurling stones at it, the OC added.
Later, police searched the building but did not arrest anybody.
Last Monday, a huge procession of the Sramik Leaugue and other Awami League affiliate organisations led by the minister had marched toward Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office when it was hit by several handmade bombs, leaving 11 people injured.
