Speaking to journalists after inaugurating Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal’s (JaSaD) biennial council in Khulna on Friday, he said, “BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is not confined or arrested.

“She has been kept away from making provocation,” the JaSad president says.

“Disappointed at her supporters and having failed to hold programmes, she is venting her anger on the people.

“She doesn’t care about students, patients or Muslims taking part in (Biswa) Ijtema. She only wants to go to power in collaboration with extremist militants in any way,” he said.

On Jan 5, Khaleda called the nonstop blockade after failing to organise rallies marking the first anniversary of the last general election as ‘Murder of Democracy Day’.

The blockade has been hampering long-distance transport but traffic in Dhaka and other key cities seemed normal.

BNP leaders have been urged to withdraw the programme to allow millions of Muslim faithfuls to take part in the Ijtema without hassles.
Inu, the chief guest of the JaSad function at Shahid Hadis Park in Khulna, said, “Khaleda Zia doesn’t understand normal politics. She is conspiring once again with the extremists and militants. Before this, she had conspired in the same way during the last election.”
He termed Khaleda ‘provoker of sabotage and violence’ and said, “She is torching buses, killing people and creating anarchy in the name of blockade.”
Inu also termed Khaleda’s seven-point proposal an ‘old story’. “There is nothing new in it. It is specifically mentioned in the Constitution how the election will be held.”
“Also, there is High Court directives on the matter. Actually, Khaleda doesn’t want election,” he said.
The information minister urged all to build a country free of extremists and militants.
JaSaD Khulna City unit chief Rafikul Haque Khokan presided over the programme while central committee General Secretary Sharif Nurul Ambia, Standing Committee member Shirin Akhter and Organising Secretary Obaidur Rahman Chunnu spoke as special guests.
Khulna Awami League President Sheikh Harunur Rashid and Khulna City Awami League General Secretary Mizanur Rahman Mizan also attended the function.
