The office has been surrounded by police since Saturday night and they have stopped the former prime minister from leaving the premises.
The government, however, does not accept this as a forcible confinement and says that the 'security measures' have been put in place as Khaleda faces 'risk'.
Police cordoned off the office as soon as the BNP-led alliance announced that they would hold a rally on Monday despite the police not permitting them to do so.
Khaleda was reportedly stopped twice from leaving the office on Saturday. On Monday afternoon, the BNP chairperson got into her SUV to leave for a party event but police had locked the gates several hours before that.
