Party’s Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi at a press briefing on Sunday afternoon claimed police were also implicating their supporters in false cases.
"This is their (the government) old strategy to thwart strike."
Suspected pro-strikers set ablaze a bus in the capital's Paltan intersection and exploded an improvised bomb near the BNP office on Sunday evening.
The BNP-led coalition decided to enforce the general strike on Monday protesting against denial of permission for their Gazipur rally and pressing for release of the arrested leaders, including BNP Standing Committee member Goyeshwar Chandra Roy.
Rizvi said, "The strike will be observed on Monday across the country. There'll be no vehicular movement during the dawn-to-dusk shutdown. Offices won't open."
The strike has been called to restore democracy in the country, he added.
At the media call at the party's Naya Paltan headquarters, the BNP leader said over 100 leaders and activists were arrested in different districts including Dhaka until Sunday evening.
