He was sued in Feni, Gazipur, Jessore, Gopalganj, Narail and Rajshahi on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Two courts in Gazipur and Narail issued arrest warrants for him. Another Narail court also issued arrest warrant in a case filed on Monday.

The courts in Feni, Jessore and Rajshahi summoned Tarique to appear on Mar 4, Jan 21 and Feb 12 respectively.

In the case in Gopalganj, the court asked police to investigate the matter.

BNP Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique, eldest son of party chief Khaleda Zia, had claimed that the father of the nation, Sheikh Mujib, was a collaborator of the invading Pakistan Army in 1971.

Speaking at a ceremony for Bangladesh’s Victory Day, Tarique, living in the UK since 2008, said Sheikh Mujib could have saved numerous lives if he had decided to start the war on Mar 7 with Bengali army officers on his side.

The few Pakistani soldiers stationed in the then East Pakistan could have been easily defeated, he claimed.

Bangabandhu, he said, was a friend of the Pakistanis for which he should be called a Razakar.

Tarique had been sued in more courts across the country for his remarks.
