Speaking at a discussion in Dhaka on Friday, he said: “(BNP chief) Khaleda Zia is unable to understand that the BNP will be most affected by this sort of activities of Tarique.”

Sengupta’s reaction came after the BNP senior vice-chairman had called Bangladesh’s founding father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman a ‘Razakar' in London on Dec 15.

“The unspeakable words of this ignorant son of Khaleda Zia will be suicidal for their politics. Their politics will be erased from Bangladesh’s history,” he warned.

The ruling party’s Advisory Council member called Tarique a brainsick and urged the British prime minister to admit him to a ‘mental hospital for treatment’.

“We would like to urge British Prime Minister David Cameron to admit this insane boy to a mental hospital immediately.

“If that’s not possible, send him back home... We’ll arrange for his proper treatment,” he said.

The Awami League leader said what Tarique was saying could not be a statement of a mentally sound person.

Tarique said at the London programme that had Sheikh Mujib ordered the Liberation War on Mar 7, 1971, the small number of Pakistani troops could have been defeated easily and loss of lives and property would have been less.

He has been sued in Bangladesh for the statement and a court has issued arrest warrant for him.
