"You people be prepared for that," she told a group of student leaders, who spearheaded the anti-autocracy movement in ‘90s, on Thursday.
Her party failed to thwart the Jan 5 elections that it boycotted.
Khaleda attributed the failure to weak agitations in Dhaka.
"But this time, the Dhaka streets won't be empty.
"Everyone must hit the streets braving teargas, baton-charge and police firing," she said at a convention of the former student leaders in Dhaka.
The government has shot down the BNP's demand for a snap election under a 'neutral' body.
Khaleda was the chief guest at a student council convention on Oct 1, 1990 just before HM Ershad's fall.
About 4,000 current and former student leaders took part in Thursday's programme.
"Prove your confidence in people by organising an election under a non-party government," the BNP chief told the ruling Awami League.
