Friday's incident took place in front of BNP's Standing Committee member Mahbubur Rahman and Joint Secretary General Mizanur Rahman Minu.

They left the venue after failing to calm the situation.

Witnesses say supporters of BNP's Dinajpur unit President Lutfor Rahman Mintu, General Secretary Mukur Chowdhury and former minister Khurshid Jahan Haq came separately to the venue.
Supporters of these leaders tried to rush to the stage after Rahman and Minu had taken to the dais around noon.
They shouted slogans taking their leaders' names and scuffled with other groups and vandalised chairs.
The banner on the stage was also torn apart. Many were seen brandishing sharp weapons and sticks.
Around 15 minutes later, the two central leaders left the venue.
Former Dinajpur BNP's general secretary Abdul Halim wondered why the central leaders had come despite being aware of the factional feud in the district.
Former MP Aktharuzzaman expressed frustration at the BNP supporters' action in presence of the top leaders.
When contacted, Standing Committee member Mahbubur Rahman said, "A group of miscreants, who do not believe in the BNP's principles, have thwarted our rally in the month of victory."
