Referring to media reports about BNP’s threat to start movement in the run up to Jan 5 elections , he told a discussion on Monday that he wondered how a party, which get ‘overwhelmed by rebels' as soon as any committee was formed, could think of launching a movement.

“Regroup your party first, handle frustrations. Then think about a movement,” Suranjit said addressing Khaleda Zia.

On Sunday, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia called on supporters to unite for the upcoming movement and said she too would be on the streets.

Suranjit shot back at Khaleda saying: “January will come and go. BNP will not be given the chance to hold a movement. The party, which is besieged by dissidents, cannot do a movement.”

On the BNP's threat of back-to-back programmes if energy prices are hiked, the Awami League leader said that the prices would be adjusted in such a way that the BNP would not have 'an option to launch a movement'.

"The prices of oil, gas and electricity would be adjusted according to the international prices."

Suranjit said that the people would go for a movement only when they would be dissatisfied, and not just for letting the BNP chief to attain power.
