At a discussion on Friday, he claimed Khaleda had recently said her bitter political rival Hasina would die such a death that she won't be able to say her last prayers.

"Khaleda Zia is plotting to kill Sheikh Hasina," Islam alleged.

"She (the BNP chief) would be accused in cases if anything happened to Hasina," the minister added.

Friday's discussion was held to mark the eighth death anniversary of Dhaka's first elected mayor and former Dhaka Metropolitan unit Awami League president Mohammad Hanif.

Islam ruled out any possibility of a dialogue with the BNP which boycotted the Jan 5 polls and has since been demanding a snap election under a non-party caretaker government.

He said the caretaker government system would not be revived in future.

The Awami League scrapped the Constitutional provision through the 15th Amendment amid vehement opposition by the BNP and its allies.

Islam claimed the BNP did not have people's support.

"The BNP does not know what the people want," the minister added.
