Biswal came to Dhaka on Thursday evening on a three-day trip from Nepal where she attended the 18th SAARC summit as an observer.

Khaleda's advisor Sabih Uddin Ahmed told bdnews24.com on Thursday that the US embassy had set the meeting at the BNP chief's Gulshan residence at 6pm.

Biswal, who is President Barack Obama’s point person for the south and central Asia, will hold meetings with high-level government officials, opposition party leaders and labour, clothing sector and business community leaders during her stay.

She oversees US foreign policy with India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives, Bhutan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan.
During her previous visit in November last year before the 10th general elections, boycotted by the BNP-led alliance, she advocated a dialogue to resolve the dispute over the nature of polls-time government.
After over half of the seats returned winners without a contest, the US said it did not find the election credible. It has been advocating for an election participated by all parties.
The BNP has been pressing for a snap election under a neutral body.
