Speaking a discussion in Dhaka on Wednesday, Abbas said his party supporters were ready to take bullets in the imminent anti-government movement.

“This time we’ll see how many bullets the government has. What will government do after the bullets are exhausted? The people of the country won’t spare you (government),” he added.

Abbas, Convener of BNP’s Dhaka metropolitan unit, continued: “We want to make it clear that the movement cannot be stopped by firing.”
Bhasani Smriti Sangsad organised the discussion at the National Press Club marking the 38th death anniversary of Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani.
Abbas said the government would fall if BNP chief Khaleda Zia ‘roars’.
He observed that Bhasani had not been given the respect he deserved.
“The Awami League is an ungrateful party. Many leaders would not have been born unless Bhasani was born. Now the name of Bhasani has been erased from textbooks. Similarly Ziaur Rahman’s name has been erased.”
