Organisation functionaries, led by their President Rajib Ahsan and General Secretary Akramul Hasan, broke opened the lock on the office door around 8.30 am on Sunday.

JCD is the BNP's student front.

On Saturday, a group of agitating JCD activists had locked the office, demanding dissolution of the new committee. They also burned effigies of JCD leaders during their demonstrations.

"We have come to our office. This is the headquarters of JCD. There's nothing more to say," JCD General Secretary Akramul Hasan told bdnews24.com.

Senior BNP leaders, including acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Student Affairs Secretary Shaheeduddin Chowdhury Annee came to the Naya Paltan headquarters around 9.30 am.

Tension had been brewing ever since BNP chief Khaleda Zia approved a new committee on Oct 14.

Those left out have been agitating since.

Several hundred activists held a demonstration in front of the BNP headquarters on Saturday, threatening to persist with their agitation until the scrapping of the new committee.

None of the demonstrators were, however, seen on Sunday.

Additional police forces have been deployed around the BNP office in the capital's Naya Paltan area in view of the tension within the BNP’s student front.
