“We are Bengalis who keep faith in Liberation. Everyone must forget about who did what in 1971 and come down to the streets. There is no alternative to that.”

The advisor to BNP chief Khaleda Zia and Supreme Court Bar Council president was speaking at a discussion in Dhaka on Monday.

The BNP’s long-time ally Jamaat-e-Islami actively opposed Bangladesh’s Liberation by forming militia groups that collaborated with Pakistan Army to kill, loot and rape during the war.

Khandker said ouster of Awami League from power will ‘fix all the problems’ faced by the nation.

“There is only one solution to the problem. We must get rid of the government that has been forced on us. All our problems will be solved once they are gone.”
