Metropolitan Magistrate Hakim Mohammad Tarek fixed the hearing on Sep 2 on Sunday.

The Assistant Secretary of the Jamaat-e-Islami’s Dhaka unit, Shafikul Islam Masud, had been shown as an absconder in this case, defence lawyer Taherul Islam Touhid said.

“But he is being held in prison for another case,” he informed the court.

The judge then wanted the Jamaat leader’s production in court for the indictment hearing on Sep 2.
The court will also pass orders that day on exemption pleas filed by BNP standing committee members Moudud and Abbas.
Paltan Police had filed the case accusing 44 people of vandalism following the obstruction of traffic in front of the BNP headquarters on Mar 6 last year.
SI Moshiur Rahman submitted a charge-sheet against 41 on Mar 19.
Standing committee member Goyeshwar Chandra Roy, Joint Secretaries General Amanullah Aman, Barkatullah Bulu and Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal President were among the 28 accused present in court on Sunday.
Twelve are absconding.
