Rahman, the party's secretary for women affairs, died 58 hours after being severely injured by grenades hurled on the Awami League’s mass rally in Dhaka on Aug 21, 2004.

The Awami League was then the main opposition party.

She was wife of late President and veteran Awami Leaguer Zillur Rahman.
Twenty three others lost their lives and countless party activists were left injured.
Prayers will be offered at her family home ‘Ivy’s Legacy’ at Gulshan-2 after Asr, around 3:30pm Sunday.
Her son MP Nazmul Hassan, also head of Bangladesh Cricket Board, has requested family members, friends and well wishers to be present at their residence.
