A letter signed by party chief HM Ershad on Monday said Solaiman had dubbed secretary general Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu “unwanted” and also led the burning of his effigy in clear violation of party regulations.

It said the expulsion order would become effective soon.

Solaiman, a former chief of JP’s Chittagong metropolitan unit, is well known as a supporter of the party’s former secretary general Ruhul Amin Howlader.

Bablu, widely believed to be a member of Raushon Ershad’s close circle, succeeded Howlader after the Jan 5 polls.
On June 5, the JP dissolved its Chittagong metropolitan unit, led by Solaiman, and formed a new one with party Vice Chairman Mahzabeen Morshed as its convenor.
Solaiman did not accept the decision. On Saturday, in a pre-Iftar discussion in the city, he threatened to make Bablu a persona non-grata in Chittagong.
Later, his supporters burned Bablu's effigy in front of the party office.
In Monday’s letter, Ershad said, “Such conduct is tantamount to direct violation of party discipline and a challenge to the authority of the party chairman.”
