At an Iftar on Tuesday, Khaleda Zia renewed her call to the government to sit for talks and allow a fresh election under a non-partisan administration.
"Otherwise, guns won't be able to keep you (the government) in power for long."
She further warned that the “guns would be the end” of the Awami League.
“You will face great punishment and terrible penance. Beware, while there is still time,” she said.
The former prime minister called on the alliance parties and the nation to join the anti-government street agitation after Eid.
The BNP chief joined the Iftar hosted by the Liberal Democratic Party at the Eskaton Ladies Club and made a short statement before breaking fast.
She said all the parties should sink their differences and unite to fight the ‘tyrant’ government.
