Relatives of ‘Ripon’, 22, have accused Bangakha Union Juba League general secretary ‘Shahjahan’ of the killing.

The Juba Dal is the youth affiliate of the BNP.

Ripon’s mother Amena Begum said her son went out of home around Thursday midnight after receiving a call on his mobile.

He called on his father’s mobile few minutes later saying he had been shot, she said.

Residents of nearby Koroitola village rescued Ripon from a paddy field. He died while being taken to the Noakhali Sadar Hospital.
Lakshmipur’s acting police superintendent Sheikh Shariful Islam said Ripon’s companions, ‘Rashed’ and ‘Nizam’, were being interrogated over the killing.
Shahjahan, the Juba League leader in question, denied the allegations outright.
“I’ve been at Lakshmipur Sadar since Thursday evening,” he said. “I don’t know anything about it (the killing).”
Mandari Union Juba Dal president Ismail Hossain claimed Shahjahan had an animosity with Ripon.
About the allegation, Shahjahan said, “How can I have animosity with him when I don’t even know him?”
