Khaleda dismayed at legal system
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has expressed her dismay at the legal system after two members of party’s Standing Committee were sent to jail pending trial.

In a statement issued on Sunday, she said: “Now the country is seeing the barbaric misrule of a single person … in place of the rule of law. People, including the leaders and activists, are being ground under it.”
A Dhaka court on Sunday sent senior BNP leaders Goyeshwar Chandra Roy and Amanullah Aman to jail after refusing them bail in a case of violence during the BNP-led 18-Party Alliance’s Dec 29 ‘March For Democracy’.
Khaleda said their right to legal redress following indictment in ‘false cases’ had been snatched away from them.
She said all the organs of the state, including the police, had been reduced to ‘affiliated organisations of the ruling Awami League.
